So we took Ben over to my brother and sister-in-law's to meet his cousin for the first time. Ben isn't around babies very often, so I figured he might not be too interested in Elle. We laid Ben next to her on the floor and he looked at her for a few minutes. She was looking at Ben too and seemed to be smiling. Ben wasn't as happy! After a few minutes of staring at each other, Ben started crying. Maybe he knows that he has to share the spot-light now and isn't too excited about it.

"I don't know about her"

Hi, I just found Ben's blog after looking at the lastest on Reuben and seeing your comment. Our son Lucas was born with CHARGE back in May, the same as Reuben. Anyway you have such a precious boy, he is a doll. Our blog site for Lucas is mkweindorf.blogspot.com if you what to check it out.
Just curious, does Ben have facial palsy on both sides? Lucas has it only on his right. I saw in one of your older post you wrote about sun glasses for ben and I was wondering if you had special ones for him. Lucas does close his eyes while sleeping but not the right eye in the sun and I have been trying to figure out the sunglass thing. My e-mail is mkwein@gmail.com
Blake and Mary Kathryn, parents to Pierce (almost 2) and Lucas (chArGE: Facial Palsy on Right side (possible partial vocal cord paralysis), Heart to be re-checked in November, Choanal Atresia Repair, Urology Surg. in Dec.,
Ear anomalies; Laryngomalacia; G-Tube & Nissin Fundo) 18 weeks!
hi lovely to see the photos and thanks so much for replying to Reuben's blog. Yesterday is still a little confusing. They lasered one vocal chord for granulomas but didn't do the other in case it caused the airway to completely close although during Reuben's granulomas removal in early August they DID remove. There was considerable swelling and damage due to the ET tube now being treated with steroids again. Apparently no laryngeal malatia was SEEN but I guess that isn't definitive. I double checked when the ENT Dr returned to pick up a trach patient and was hanging around looking for the parents who are never there. But after showing us the photos he followed with "I'd like you to see the trach video before planned extubation next week" and proceeded to write down contact details for the trach nurse so really, I'm not sure where that leaves us. Such damage has been done with the ET tube.
SUNGLASSES: Also have the same question as MK/Lucas for the future re sunglasses since Reuben also has right facial palsy.
